New UIA Claimant Roadmap, Coaching Sessions make filing for jobless benefits faster, easier
The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency offers two new public resources to help workers who have questions about filing for jobless benefits.
The Claimant Roadmap, which can be found at Michigan.gov/UIA ClaimantRoadmap, answers questions, clarifies instructions, and eliminates confusion in six easy-to-understand steps. The instructions explain how to apply for and understand jobless benefits.
It features a user-friendly design to walk applicants through preparing to apply; submitting an application; reviewing a Monetary Determination letter; registering and searching for work; updating user information every two weeks; and checking for updates from the UIA. It also provides a link to additional resources and contact information for further information.
Workers can also sign up for First-time Filer Coaching Sessions to learn the application process. The online group sessions are based on the Claimant Roadmap, but provide an opportunity for claimants to ask questions of trained UIA staff.
Sessions are for those filing a new claim only and are available mornings and afternoons, Tuesday through Friday. To sign up for available dates and times, go to Michigan.gov/UIA.
Anyone with questions about an existing claim can visit UIA’s Schedule an Appointment page or call Customer Service at 1-866-500-0017.
